DEED Seeks Trainers and Consultants for Entrepreneurial Program

ST. PAUL –The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development has announced a Request for Proposals, seeking to partner with organizations that can provide training and consulting services for people who want to start new businesses.

The agency’s Office of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development is leading Project GATE II (Growing America Through Entrepreneurship), which is scheduled to begin in January 2009.

The program, funded by the U.S. Department of Labor, is aimed at dislocated workers who are 50 or older and aspire to launch their own businesses rather than seek re-employment

Michael Myhre, director of the Office of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, said the program will provide a wide range of services, including personal assessments and development, concept feasibility, and guidance on launching a new business.

“The goal of the program is to prepare entrepreneurs to be ‘business ready,’ thus increasing their chances for long-term success and sustainability,” Myhre said.

Qualified organizations interested in submitting proposals may obtain a free copy of the Request for Proposals by contacting Michael Myhre, State Director, Office of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, 1st National Bank Building, 322 Minnesota St., Suite E200, St. Paul, MN 55101, telephone (651) 259-7421; fax (651) 296-5287; e-mail Michael.Myhre@state.mn.us

The deadline for completed proposals is Friday, Oct. 31, 2008.

Upon request, the information in this news release is available in an alternative format
